    Faster, more reliable. Despite being expensive over time tends to be an investment, since their lifetime is much larger than the conventional hd.

        I am considering getting an SSD, mainly so that my computer (desktop) boots quicker. I would still use my existing drives for data storage. Any feedback on the improvement in boot time on Win7?

          Never used an SSD, but I have run Linux from a live CD booting on an SD card.

          ~~~~ me it's quick. I had it installed & running within 10 seconds.
            SSD
            I have an Lenovo T400s with a Toshiba SSD (128GB).
            I use Windows 7 64 bit. The SSD is really fast. I work a lot with Virtual Machines.
              I changed my hard drive in my laptop to SSD, I use it for datalogging on earthmoving equipment, trucks and boats, super reliable so far - and fast.
                    newer tech always costs more .... simply to arse rape joe public.
                    Go back a few few years my 1st dvd recorder cost ?180, single layer 2x speed, was a nec forget which model. For less than ?20 now you get a duel layer 20+ speed all singing all dancing job.
                        Very impressive, but I didn't see the cost anywhere. I'm thinking it might be a little scary.
