i had the same problem sharing files between win xp,vista and 7 now i have found that using the public folders on 7 and vista allows me to move files across to any o/s on my network which seems easier to set up for sharing, also i use windows sync toy 2 which will sync folders and files across my network and does not require setting up for folders to be shared.
