    nottebok/netbook/laptop

can anyone recommend any of the above for the missus to use?
she only ever uses the computer for facebook/bebo and browsing online stores.
machine doesn't have to powerfull and battery life isn't an issue because she'll only be using it in the house....

she's getting on my ~~~~in nerves tying up the computer looking at facebook....

anything cheap will do... as long as it connects wirelessly....

If size really doesn't matter go for a netbook, you can get one for less than ?200
Netbooks from PC World - Get Netbooks online here
The specs are more or less the same on netbooks it's the battery life that puts the price up.

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Netbooks are cheaper, they dont have a cdrom and have a small screen 10", but apart from that theres no real difference and will do for what your wife wants it for. You can use a usb cdrom if you need to burn discs.

              yes
i have taken all of your advice on board and came to the following conclusions....

              1. netbooks are cheaper (she'll be using my money)
              2. 10 inch screen (who give a ~~~~... i'll not be using it)
              3. no cdrom drive (missus wouldnt know how to use one ), if you asked her to burn a disk, she'd be routing around for a lighter......

              a no-brainer really

I have an Asus eeePC 900, can recommend it for exactly what your after.

I took one with me when I went travelling round Asia and used it for internet, facebook, watching films, storing/editing pictures, even games (FM2010 mainly)

If she starts maoning it's too small (most women usually do ) then you can always plug it into a monitor and as has been said use a USB DVD Rom, or a normal IDE one with a cheap caddy.

I use the Samsung N130 when not at work or on the main PC.

It works really well.... except the wi-fi & right speaker are ~~~~ed. But I got it for doing a little carpentry at work.. the boss paid ?60 for it.

The screen is sharp & clear, very easy keyboard for speed typing, battery life is quite impressive, 3 USB ports allow for external mouse (touch pad is very sensitive).

Overall it's a good size & doesn't lag to much. It does everything I need from it.
