    External hdd

    Hey guy's, I took a hd from my old lappy, it's a 2.5 ide hitachi. I bought an external caddy for it. Now, my question is, can I just plug it into my new lappy ( win 7 ) and view the content on there ? Or would there be a problem because of the os ( xp ) on the old hd ?. Would I have to format it, and lose the content that's on it ? Thank's in advance.

      yes you can view the contents of the hd or transter anything you want to save to your new laptop then format it and then use it for storage.
