Video Card advice?

I have two 8800GTS Nvidia cards connected with an SLI cable. I hear that one newer card can outperform these two heavy, heat-producing video cards.

I'm running ASUS M3N-HDMI motherboard, 8GB memory (DDR2, I believe), quad-core CPU. These video cards take up a lot of space across the PCIE / PCI slots.

I cannot consider an ATI card because I run Linux.

Any suggestions on a good NVIDIA card?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. I have a GTX 470 and it kicks some serious ass on pretty much everything I use it for.
