15 minutes is not such long time to burn a disc mine takes about 10mins 8x speed try using different media or it could be your dvd recorder try changing write speed to 8x.
If you can't change the write speed its your media or your dvd rewriter i use a liteon which will write dvdr at 24x but i usually burn at 8x to be safe.
        I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-43...8898479&sr=8-4 works out 17.5p a disc.
Remember blueray discs cost a lot more you can put data on but that will take it even longer to burn and if you want to share your disc with anyone they to will need a bluray player.

Burning a Verb Dual Layer BDrom at 2x takes me 90mins.

They also cost a fair whack, ?9 a disk if i buy in bulk.
I can get cheaper media, even media that will write t 4x but ive found it to be unreliable and by cheaper i mean maybe ?5 a disk that "might" wind up as a coaster anyway...

The numbers dont transfer in terms of speed either.
1x on a DVD writer is around 1.5MB/s
1x on a BD writer is in the region of 4.5MB/s

Not that this helps much i mean 4.7GB (SL) / 8.5GB (DL) pales in comaparison to the 25SL / 50DL.

At 1x it takes me roughly 3hrs for a dual layer burn
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

are you downloading Blu-Ray films then burning them..??

I download Blu-Ray's then stream them from my PC to my PS3 which is into my 1080 Full HD TV.. no need for discs

how much are blu-ray writers where you are ?
i thought they where reasonable here in canada still could be cheaper .but $100 canadian dollars is not to bad.
