    pc wont boot.

i have just installed a new DVD rw writer in my PC. i have made sure the firmware is up to date, and it works OK.

the only problem is when i boot my PC up, it wont load windows xp until i eject the tray on the new drive?

once its loaded it OK... any ideas????

Is this without any disc in the drive?

You could always change your boot priority in BIOS, so that it boots from HDD first instead of CD.

Try connecting a different power connector to the drive too if that doesn't help - make sure its all connected tightly - My mobo did this too - swapping cables worked for me.
