    Do you have a "choose what closing the lid does" and " choose what the power buttons do" in the power buttons in the control panel...chuck

      i have just completed a restore so hopefully this will solve a lot of the issues i have been having recently

        chucklor i do have that option in cp
        but it wasnt there until i restored,,i also lost the sound b4 i restored
        not sure what was happening but many things were not functioning correctly

          hello mate had the same fault with xp it was a dodgy program i installed.did you install anything before this started happening.

Make sure you are sent to a www. microsoft.. site and download all updates and any software and hardware updates. that should sort you out.. if not you have a program conflict.

              think youre right,im a bit crap at installing windows update,i know you can set it to automatic but i dont like that idea,i like to know what microsoft are telling me is critical and what i think is critical
              i tunes seems to have ~~~~ed up my lappy,but it might be a combination of the 2
