    incompatible with win7

Took a 2.5 hdd from an old lappy, got an external enclosure, worked great on an XP lappy that has now gone to lappy heaven. Hdd is only compatible with XP, do I need another comp with XP or is there anything I can do to get it to work with win7. Not too technical please .

are you sure the hd has not gone to heaven as you should be able to access the drive with any o/s, recheck all your connections in the enclosure including power supply.

its in an enclosure so it would be usb to to his present pc, i have put a ide hd in a pc that runs 7 with xp loaded so files could be saved before a format of the drive without a problem, my present pc uses 7 installed on a ide drive.
