Blu Ray discs US region encoded

I brought a set of Sparticus Blu ray discs from the US thinking that my Sony region free DVD/Blu Ray player would play them, only to find that the region free bit only applies to the DVD player.
Does anybody know if I can use Nero or something similar to Rip them and re-record them onto a Blu Ray disc.

I'm pretty sure you can rip/burn blu-ray with the latest version of nero, or nero 10 blu-ray plug in,
I know most sony dvd players have a service menu, but I don't know if there is an option to change blu-ray regions

To enter the service menu:

With the power off, press and hold Open+Play+Stop on the front panel of the player. The unit will turn on and show the service menu. To leave the menu you have to hold the Power button the front panel until the unit turns off.

To make my Blu Ray player multi region, for blu ray, requires a hardware mod, so thats out of the question for now, it is already multi region for DVD. I f*cked up and thought it was multi region for both.

I want to retain the HD 1080P picture quality, or close if I can.
I have downloaded the episodes as AVI files (low res) and burnt them to DVD but the picture quality is poor in a 42 inch TV, and wife wants to watch in fantastic HD quality to justify spending dollars on US discs, and getting stung for VAT as well.

you can rip your discs with dvd fab hd dycrypter.

download the MKV hd versions and convert them to AVCHD format which is a sony hd format and burn to ordinary dvd.

tsmuxer will convert from mkv to AVCHD. and may covert your disks from Blu ray to AVCHD. I've done the MKV to AVCHD but not the Blu ray so don't know for sure.
