HDD format??

Hi..Ive recently been given a spare HDD which ive put as my slave--It says on the actual cover of it that it is an 80g..but when ive clicked to format it, it says its only 31.4g???Can anyone understand why.

have you formated it fat or ntfs
or it could be the jumper is set to limit to 32gb or what ever the limit is check your jumper settings

I formatted in NTSF---ill double check jumper and see if that makes any difference changing it.Thanks for quick response

Turns out it doesnt need a jumper in---its now giving me 76.3g...The diagram showed me it needed 1 jumper in---thats where i put it to get 31.4g...Trial and error and messing about got me there in the end.cheers
