That's a big question.
basically all your personal files.
You need to have all your software to reinstall and preferably the option to do a factory restore on your pc.
If you do not have a factory restore option then you will most likely need to get all the drivers from your pc manufacturers website.
you can get driver backup programs but I have never used them I normally use cnet when I am looking for handy little pc utilities.
this is a driver backup program but there are others perhaps other members have ones they have tested.

I suppose you could buy a new hard drive and copy the whole contest including copy of your windows with ghost software and you never have to worry for any loss of files and running of your windows again.

Did you know People will question all the good things they hear about you but believe all the bad without a second thought.

you can make a ghost image of your drive, basically it is an exact copy of your drive so if you have problems with your programs then you are still gonna have problems with your programs.
the program is called "ghost" it is available on the "hiren cd". It is the ideal tool for makeing a compolete backup of your drive
you can ghost one drive on to another ie fit a second drive into your pc and ghost onto it or you can make a back up, ghost image onto an external drive.
basically you boot the hiren cd and start the ghost program.
it then gives you the option to backup on to another drive.
someone has already posted a link for the hiren cd here (then you would probably be best to read up on how to make a ghost image). ghost is a good program and I have used it numerous times with sucess
I'm interested to know why you want to replace your drive. do you have disk problems or program problems?
if your drive is getting on then replacing it is a good idea.
If your having problems with windows then doing a windows repair would be advisableLast edited by Dreamer; 21 January, 2011, 23:22.

just getting blue screen problems --usually when using mega manager,,,,seems to be when that program is on for me. mickyComment

sounds like a compatability problem with that program. I have sent you a pm with some info.
It still won't do you any harm to make a backup image of your drive if you have another drive to back up on to. It would mean if the worst happened and your drive failed then you would be able to do a reinstall.

unless you had a cable to allow you to connect it via usb then the laptop drive will not help you out much.
most likely you would need something like this
USB to IDE & SATA Cable Kit USBNow.co.uk
Hopefully you will not need to buy a new cable or drive and uninstalling and re-installing mega manager will hopefully do the trick.
you should make sure you have backed up any critical files onto cd like photos or anything you cannot bear to lose. It's always good practice to keep your stuff backed up incase something drastic happens to your drive and you cannot recover any data from it
