Advice wanted about laptops and /or notebook

My other / better half has asked (demanded / threatened violence) if I don?t get her one of these new Acer laptops from Tesco direct.

Are Acer's all right machines? Are they reasonably powerful? More importantly are they reliable? Am I going to get bugged every 5 minutes with things going wrong?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Acer make some good machines. But you really need to match the laptop to what the battle axe want's to use it for.
There's no point buying a top of the range laptop if she's only going to use it for accessing facebook.

Your only other worry is if she knows what she's doing with a computer or not. My family are retards when it comes to computers. Even though I install antivirus & antimalware programs with active scanning, backed up with a firewall set to catch a fleas fart...... I still get called out every couple of months because it's stopped working... only to find it's riddled with virus & malware infections.

I would echo everything C/C has said
I have been using an Acer tablet pc for a few years, and I bought it second hand, I've dropped it a couple of times, but I've never had any problems with it.
although I wouldn't buy it from tesco, you would find cheaper elsewhere if you shop around.

I repair laptops for a living and I can tell you to stay clear of Acer. They have a really bad support system ,thats if you can get through to them (well in Ireland they do anyhow). Also stay clear of Hp laptops. Totally Agree with matching latop to what she needs it for.
