most web-hosting companies offer free basic site building tools when you sign up for a hosting package, can be perfect for creating a basic prescence on the web, usually as simple as picking a template from a catalogue of default designs, playing about with the layout and colour scheme if you want, adding your logo or photo, adding some content text, and thats it !

Altough basic they can produce some pretty polished looking sites, and as a novice, you'd prob get better results than trying to build a site yourself from scratch

No coding or building needed.... and usually free
Check out a demo of 1&1's site builder tool to see what's on offer : https://websitebuilder.1and1.com/xml...chauftrag=demo

Have you already registered a domain name or signed up for a hosting package ?

that does look like a good deal, never used 'em myself but the ?25 package should be fine for a simple 'point of prescence' website, considering it includes a .com domain registration which are usually a tenner/year on their own.. there's plenty of tricks you can employ to get yourself up the google ranking system without paying a pro...

This book is all about getting your site up the google ranks
