Which processor?

After looking at many i3 laptops.

Which processor is one below this? (so it's cheaper ) but will be able to us Windows 7 ?

I am very confused about all the different processors available? and which is best or worse?

A Core 2 Duo is one of the best processors for laptops, and the i3.is the successor to it more or less

Don't get a Celeron or pentium D or anything like them, they are useless at most things other that light stuff in Win 7

You should be able to pick up a Core 2 Duo laptop for pretty cheap now a days

What is an equivelent AMD processor to duo2core? I want to try to save as much money as I can

C2D's are way better than any AMD dual core... but what exactly are you gonna be doing with it?

On a laptop cpu's are rated different, because they're also based on performance per watt.. C2D's have a brilliant performance per watt ratio. AMD's tend to just throttle down and operate slower just to save energy and don't have the performance of C2D's anyway.

If you just want Win 7 and some online stuff then go for a cheaper amd dual core(like a 64x2) with about 2 gigs of ram. A dual core laptop should have descent enough graphics for Win 7 anyway. But graphics don't really matter on a laptop unless you want abit of gaming.

If you're going for an older laptop or second hand one then make sure it has a Direct X 9 gpu in it to get aero features and graphics acceleration in Win 7. But best to buy something more modern for a bit of future proofing.

You should be able to get an older C2D laptop for around 350, if that's within your budget then hunt down one.

Echo of the above, i wouldn't go lower than a core2duo. The amd x2s of the same era are a lot slower. Just get the cheapest i3 you can afford or a core 2 duo. Stay away from everything else.
