    Too strong a signal

My parents just paid for a freeview (log periodic) aerial installation for their samsung freeview tv and now they get freeview the tv looses the epg with bits missing and it locks up in the epg a lot (le26r5 tv)

the guy who installed it said the signal in their area was too strong with the new aerial now so put a 9db attenuator on the line and says the tuner was damaged from the constant weak singal from the old aerial all these years, is this true, i thought a strong signal was a good thing.

the engineer is correct, a strong signal will need an attenuator to decrease the signal, you say he tried a 9db, try a 3db see if that helps. Or if you got one of those internal digital aerials try that .

you could also try a signal booster, one that you can adjust, so you can decrease the signal.
