    rht498h stuck on hello screen

    hiya folks

bought a dvd recorder with 250 gb hard drive about 18 months back.
its hardly been used and now it won't start up
it sticks on the hello scrolling across front and won't do anything else
    won't eject discs etc
basically only the power button on either the unit or the remote appears to do anything
LG are not interested as it is out of warranty
    any ideas

Hi there, i had the same problem and weeks of no luck searching google.

I noticed the disk drive start spinning once the unit had power, and remembered i had left a disk in the tray. So i removed it manually.
          This fixed the problem

(obviously only try if you know you have a disk in the tray. Make sure unit has its power leads unplugged, and be careful what you touch.)

There is 5 screws on the outer casing then this slides off backwards, 6 holding down the CD drive. Unplug the ribbon cable and the power cable. 2 screws on bottom of CD drive, the bottom clips off. You should see a little white lever type thing, slide this all the way to the left to open the drive, remove disk and reassemble. Power back on.

Hope this works for you too.

          Matt.
