USB connection question ?

Hope i've put this question in the right place. I have a flat screen tv, it has all the usual connections except a USB connection. I have an external USB HDD is their any way i can link my external HDD to my tv? If so could any of you guys tell me the best or cheapest method. I'd recommend the "WD TV Live" .. It'll play almost any video format on your hard disk, and its well supported with regular updates (if you also connect it to your network)..
