technika lcd tv repair please HELP

could some one please help me

well i got a technika 32" lcd tv
model: lcd32-407b
about a year back it started playing up( it is about 3-4 years old)
where the screen flickered and i use to have trouble connecting my ps3 to it.

when i turned on my ps3 it would either work or it would just go black screen and make a loud deep buzzing sound. it was like this for about 6 months where i just kept trying intill it would work.

then eventually it just started turning it self off after about ten minutes of it being on so i gave up and just bought new one

but i googled it an found a few posts about same problem(this site) sorry for making new topic i just thought the other 1 about the technika tv but bit old (not sure if topic still running)

but in the other thread every1 was mentioning something about it being the power unit and is quite a common problem with these tv's

but would that make the screen flicker and take 10-20 attempts trying to make it work with the ps3? oh it did do it with scart as well as hdmi


i have just took the back off and took picture which i will attach.

on the power unit it says

E149668 FIS-B1
KXP 0737 RA1
HI-POT then OK in a sqaure

could i just get new power board and replace old one and do you think it would work ?
and where could i get the part from ?

sorry for the long post just trying to give as much info as possible

You could and it might but i would put a meter on it first to see if its putting out power and go from there welcome to the forum mate..............

Im sure thers a couple of the lads on here that do these bits or work in that field sit tight ...............

To be honest say you can source a power board, well for the cost of the part would it not be more economical to just replace the telly. You got 4 years out of it so thats not bad for a cheap tesco telly.

yeh i admit ive had my worth out of it but i just thought i would try and fix it if i could.

does a power board cost that much to replace ?

ive just taken the off the heatsink on the rhs of the power board and found 2 capacitors are slighty bulging so i think that might be it

which i be well chuffed if it is

Faulty capacitors are a well known problem in lcd tv's, I've had a few go like that, they are prob 85degree caps the heat kills them, you might find your new ones will be rated to 105degree much better. Easy job if your handy with a soldering iron, try and replace the caps as close as possible rating to the existing if exact ones arent available and you should be good.

well im not handy with a sodering iron but i will get my brother to do that.

im just not sure where will sell them local.
i can get them online but would like to get them local try sort it and put it back together.

i need 1000uf 35v and a 1000uf 25v i think it was

Try maplins they are good for bits like that mate............

progress:

start of with i will state im no technician
well i got couple capacitors from maplins.
and sodered in place put tv back together tried it and it wont come off standby now

so googled a little and realised there is positive and negitive side to capacitors

my question now is could/would it of blown the capacitors putting them in the wrong way or can i just take them out put them in the right way and try again

so im gonna next try testing the whole power board from inlet to outlets.

any 1 else got any ideas ???
oh i do get a high pitch noise when i turn the power on from the power board but thats is normal right ? just the current passing threw ?

I don't know how to help you with yours Domio but I think you're doing the right thing in trying to fix it!

Mines being doing much the same thing and I'm trying to replace parts bit by bit...but I know I can order a power supply board from the places Lagerland mentions if I need to.

Most of these tellies innards are made by the same couple of companies (eg Samsung) and they tend to suffer from one thing - cheap capacitors - and the only thing that makes a difference to the ease of repair is what they happen to take out with them when they eventually blow.

So, for the price of a couple of pints, and a bit of investigating, you can have your telly back good as new...if you're lucky.

But it's got to be worth a go, hey?
