    Advice Needed Please Guys.....

Need advice for a playback device that reads any movie file really.. abit like VLC player. I download quite a few films for my mum to watch on her laptop.. and transfer them from my external Hdd to her laptop hard drive.

however i want to be able to connect a external hard drive to a device so i can play it back through the TV using the VGA port on the back of the LCD Tv and leave it perm connected to the TV.

i know it can be done by connecting the laptop to the TV and doing it that way but i want a box of somesort that will...

1). Reads the USB external HDD thats connected to it
2). connects to the TV's VGA port
3). And can be controlled by a remote control to select which movie files she wants to watch.

4). (not important but would be a Bonus) if possible the device has built in wireless to connect to the internet? i want to setup a FTP site where i can put the new films on their for her to watch.. as i said not important thou.. as when i visit her i can just copy the newer films direct to her external hard drive but because of the distance we live away from each other this would be a added bonus as i dont get to visit her regularly.

is there such thing? whats it called? and where would be the best place to get one? im probley asking the impossible of grasping at straws here but any info or advice would be much appreciated guys.

    Thanks in advance....

    Street.
