Hi don't know if im in the right section but here goes.

I want to connect my laptop to my TV what is the cheapest and simple way to do this, what cables are needed? (would prefere some links if possible)

Also if theres a way to do it in HD would love to know but it has to be a cheap option.

have you not got a vga port on your tv? because vga output IS hd even the crappiest graphics chips can output 720p via vga

I have a Panasonic Viera HD TV i just checked doesn't appear to have one

unfortunate as you're looking at around the ?30 upwards mark to get a vga to hdmi converter

whats the other option? can i watch it without HD how bad will the picture be?

well you say u havent got vga on your tv.. soit would come down to svideo from lappy to svideo on tv.. and thats okay ISH... think vhs quality

VGA cable and then change your display settings accordingly. 3.5mm stereo Jack cable from headphone socket on laptop into PC audio in on tv

Your TV is only HD ready (720p) so you wont get full HD whatever you do..

Your TV has no VGA port on it, and we assume your laptop has no HDMI output then.. Have you considered a USB to HDMI cable? I believe you need a fairly powerful laptop for these to work though..

If it was me, I'd flog the HD ready telly whilst it still has some value, and buy a Full HD telly with all the inputs and outputs you'll ever need...

Hello, you're pretty stuck for a simple cable fix...

But there is light at the end of the tunnel, for just under ?20 you can get a converter box from a popular auction site, not sure if I'm allowed to say eBay or not? But anyway, item number 150531829415, obviously from China, but for the price you can't grumble, if you want a UK based have a look at item number 320857773139, just under ?27 delivered.

Both are the same and would do the job quite nicely, saves getting a new TV just yet : )
