Techwood 42 inch lcd

hi people,
just wanted some advice if anybody knows ive got a techwood 42 lcd and for the last month its been going off as if somebody has pulled the plug out?no noise just turns off no lights etc? and the only way to get it back on is to un plug it for 2-3 mins and plug it back in and it will come back on, if you only wait 1 min it goes off straight away but after its back on it may go 8 hrs before doin it again there is no pattern but it is happening more now than ever maybe 6 times a day,just need to know common faults what to test and how before i volley it thru the window thanx in advance.

this is what i found,-this kind of problem it needs trouble shooting now if you do it with your own make sure you have proper tools then at least have basic knowledge in trouble shooting and then always observed safety since you are dealing with high voltage and sensitive parts. now you need to open first the back cover to gain access the internal part, look for the power supply this is where the power cord connected since it keeps turning off usually filter capacitors to the out put of power supply are leak and you will noticed their is bulging on tops to its casing usually cause over heat,it needs replacemen

alright pal ive had the back off a few times now there doesnt seem to be any bulging capaciters im really pulling my hair out with it any other advice or knowledge would be really apreciated .....

Ray is right your problem is psu power supply unit and without seeing the board we can only guess but they don't bulge massively,there could be small leakage. Remember high voltage still remains even when switched off. If your no good with electronics or soldering you could take the psu board number and order a replacement. All for information only fix at your own risk.

im not too bad with electrics to be honest i will wip the back off again and look at capaciters again just didnt know if it could be something else apart from the psu board should i just leave it unpluged for half an hour to discharge?? could it be anything else??

not a tv engineer,but probably best bet is,google model number for powerboard,you could type powerboard number or model number in fleabay,just take a chance on powerboard,around ?25-?30,point is,is it worth ?30 to try it.

I did a google search and found this:

"the most common cause for this is the capacitor (1uf 630vdc)located at c19 on the main power board.the cost for this component is around 90p "

I don't know if this applies to this power board or not.

replaced psu board its now like new
