help me decide between these 2 TV's

    hey guys and gals,

I'm in the market for a new T.V and have narrowed my selection down to [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UE40EH5000-40-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B007IHYP5Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3AWA9BSD0TEB J&coliid=IW5QW8EJQ8ALY"]this[/ame] or [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-42LS3400-42-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B007IYVUCI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3AWA9BSD0TEB J&coliid=I31G381MV1Q34P"]this[/ame]

Ive have been tearing my hair out for days but cant decide between the 2.

The T.V will be used with my Vu+ duo for primarily watching the premiership in HD.

I don't have the need to use the TV as a p.c monitor as i already have a full HD Samsung monitor

*The LG is a 42" and the Samsung is a 40"

*The Samsung is 50hz and the LG is 100hz (not sure what this means)

    *Both are similar in price

    * Both are A energy rated

    * Both have freeview

The Samsung is more visually appealing IMO

I don't think the LG has digital audio out available but the Samsung has

Which of these 2 TV's would you go for and why?

    Thanks in advance

    Alan

being as your using it for mainly footie, i would go for the lg 100htz, the htz is the refresh rate of the tv, meaning the higher htz of the tv the smoother flowing picture you will get for fast moving programs like footie, both are similar in spec, build quality imo.

on the sony if ya can get a smart tv fur around the same price, get one, these tvs are great, they are dlna ( Digital Living Network Alliance ) meaning they will stream stuff from the internet/and your computer, and if you use this--> Serviio media server ( free version is good enuff ) installed on your pooter you be able to stream a LOT more stuff from the internet

Go with LG mate.. other than the screen ratio which is better than the Sammy, if you see them on display you can easily tell the difference as the the colors and sharpness on LG is far better than Sammy

i would rather have have a panny .better build than a lg which would break in less than 4 years, long warranty is handy.

i would go with that, panny or sony, 5 years warranty on sony an optional 5 year warranty on lot of tvs can cost ?250 beer tokens.

                  Thanks for the replies fellas

I know pannys are a better tv but I just wanted to know which of these 2 TV's would you go for?

It seems that people think that LG would give a better choice?

                  Anyone else have any input?

                  thanks for all the replies

                  Cheers

I can second gmb's choice, I have a bravia smart tv and was reasonably happy streaming with windows media player until gmb pointed me in the direction of serviio. Who needs netflix . Film from newsgroups in under 10 mins then streamed through serviio straight to sony. By the time the wife has sorted the munchies the film is playing.
