If you buy goods online from a country outside the European Union, for instance the USA, Canada, China, Australia

    You will be charged:

    * Customs duty if the amount of duty is ?7 or over
    * Import VAT if the value of the goods is ?18 or over

If you calculate 30% this should cover all duty, vat and collection fees

I got around it by asking the shop i bought from to label the parcel as Gifts worth $10.. the parcel was worth ?90 but i took the gamble of only being able to claim $10 if it was lost
