dvd player fuzzy sound

hi
my toshiba dvd player has started to play up
the sound is coming through very fuzzy and distorted
is there something i can do to try and fix the problem or does it sound like the end of my dvd player ?
i have tried various discs and no difference and the tv itself is fine
any advice would be greatly appreciated

are you using good quality cables as cheaper cables will give you problems.
