can samsung tv play wmv ?

Is there a way to identify wmv files. The problem is my Samsung smart tv will play some but not others. I read that only 'vc1' type files are compatible? The other option is to convert them to avi or mp4 but is there a solution that will convert quickley and easily. Alternatively is there a sw/codec update available - official or otherwise?

I'm not sure why your tv wouldn't play wmv files as surely it should recognise all video files formats.

But if you must convert them then avi files are monstrously larger than mp4 by a long shot.
