AGREED. This is a very simple program and free. does almost anything. If for some reason it dont do the copy protection i run it through dvd decrypter 1st then use dvdshrink before burning it

dvdshink is the easiest (please use deep analysis) but the trade off is poor quality. Far better solutions exist but the trade off is the time they take. DVDRebuilder is much much better quality wise but to get the best out of it you'll have to use it with CCE for the encoder, try here for more info (and guides, plus their forum is perfect for this) www.doom9.org

BTW a 1:1 copy is impossible as you can't author a disc and keep the CSS intact. If you dont care about the CSS then a straight dumping tool and write it out to to DVD-DL will ensure the best possible copy (i.e. the same as original but without the CSS, and possibly the macrovision stuff depending on how its dumped)....this is all a non issue really, because you're copying your own "original" discs of your home videos right?

dvd shrink was ok in the day, but it does not get any updates nowadays making it obsolete for the latest copyright encrtptions. i stick with dvd fab its brilliant.

i would say, just use a tool like ultraiso and create a iso of the dvd and burn the iso on a dvd-r / dvd-r dl
