freeview tuning

have a t.v. with built in freeview, but only scan's channel's 1 to 5. hoping it's the ariel. would buying a freeview box work or does that need a digital ariel too. wehave a built in t.v. working fine downstairs on a seperate ariel

sounds like you have not tuned in on digital,i had probs with my dads,found another setting think its DVB

you have probably scanned analogue channels
read your instruction manual
swith to digital and rescan
