avi wont play on dvd player

Hi guys,

i need your help please,my mates got a phillips hts3520 dvd home theatre system and it wont play avi files from a usb stick. he has formatted to fat32 but still no luck.your help will be much appreciated.

Strange should play avi according to spec Philips - Immersive Sound Home theatre HDMI 1080p - HTS3520/05 - 5.1/7.1 Home theatres - Home theatre - Sound and vision maybe it's the avi file have you tried a different one ,also maybe the stick as problem

he has tried a couple of sticks and also with a few avi's but still same problem

Gotta be a problem with player, do the avi's work of disc

convert one of the non playing .avi's to divx and see if that plays.

converted to divx still wont work

what size is the Divx file? try splitting it in half with a video splitter program just to test,?

also download "super"

also try just changing the file extention .avi to .mpeg, nothing else no converting etc just change the file extention and test

i bought a cheapo dvd player in lidl 30eoru has a usb slot plays all formats i know this doesn't solve your problem but just slap it on a mem stick and away you go

I think that the dvd player only supports up to divx 5 version encoded files

You need a program that will convert divx6 encoded files into divx5 encoded files and then they should play?

I think super is capable of doing this, but try to find a sample of a div 5 encoded file 1st and test it to see if it works.

I think your USB in player maybe faulty is it showing menu?film,data eg: and whatever else is on the USB stick ,if you have not got any other files on, try putting jpeg on stick to see if that shows
If other files do work off USB then ,it's deffo a prob with player...?
