Enable PVR on Samsung C Series

I've just tried this on my C6530 and it works like a charm, I can now pause and record TV with a laptop HDD on a USB! I found the guide on sourceforge.net, so credit to them lot!

PVR activation on Samsung TV C series without firmware downgrade...

    1. Turn on TV, on remote control key: MUTE-1-1-9-ENTER, set HOTEL MODE to ON and then turn off TV.

    2. Invoke service menu by pushing INFO-MENU-MUTE-POWER on remote control. (If this doesn't work try MUTE-1-8-2-POWER)

    3. Put in USB HDD/flash formated to FAT32.

    4. In service menu go to Control - Hotel Option and click on Clone TV to USB, then push 'return' on remote and choose Sub Option category.

    5. In this menu set PVR to ON. (Move to PVR by pressing down button, no right!)

    6. Go back and set Hotel mode to OFF and power off your tv.

    7. ENJOY your PVR.

    Hi Hox,

I have the same TV, and have wanted the PVR function. I followed the instructions to the letter, but when I go into the sub option menu, the PVR function is not there, any ideas?

      I have found a solution.

The problem apparently is that from firmwar 3009, Samsung have closed this loop hole, however by using a ervice remote you can alter the model of the TV. I changed mine from a 6350 to a 6800. There are other options but the instructions I found said use the 6800. Once you do this PVR is enabled. Very easy to do.

Make sure before you do this that you have the wireless remote option turned on in the TV menu, and that you have a wireless dongle on the TV. Then follow the instructions here SamyGO • View topic - PVR on C-Series TV with Firmware 3009.2!

Be careful doing this, do not alter anything else, and you do this at your own risk. I wonder what other options can be unlocked by selecting a different model?

Unfortunately it can't record to 8 GB or 16 GB Flash drives. I have a 2 GB and 16 GB Flash drive of the exact same type and only the 2 GB one works.

Could this be because of the FAT32 4GB limit?
