    TV Wiring issue

hey all will try and explain my problem as best as i can

I have installed new TV Aerials at my property, consisting of 6 tv's

when downlead from aerial is connected to 6 way splitter i have perfect freview pictures which is great, however when i take aerial downlead to sky box and back up to splitter i loose freeview channels on all tv's and analogue picture has decreased?? this is using existing co-ax cables....

i thought it could be the cables so i replaced them and still same issue.....

i then used newly installed cables and joined them together at sky box and still same issue??? it's just really extending cables and signal is nearly gone??

    ANY HELP REALLY APPRECIATED

any other info needed please ask AS I NEED THIS SORTED ASAP!!!

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

        hi there

why would you want the downlead to go to the skybox then the splitter, why not just take a cable from the splitter to your skybox,

if you have 1 Aerial you will need a booster

        hope this helps

the idea is that aerial to rf input on sky box and then from rf out on sky box to splitter, that way sky can be viewed on all 6 tv's

on your 6 tv's are you trying to watch a didgital or analogue signal.

i suspect you are using a digital ariel and digital tuners on your tv's
when you are going through the sky box the output is ananlogue only, that is why you loose your signal...

just an educated guess m8. not 100 per cent

                  Multi TV

Change the RF output frequency from the Sky box, it may be outputting on a frequency of a local TV channel.

If you write down all the channels from Channel 21 up to 68 on paper then mark which channels are used in your area, also channels that are +/-1 channels away, +/-5 channels away, +/-9 channels away, also any outputs from VCRs also Sky usually channel (68).
when you have marked all of these channels then you will see what channels you can use.

i think the sly box is the problem here.

                      you could try this.

run cable from ariel to sly box then..

                      1. plug the aeriel feed straight into a tv and check picture quality on digital and analogue.

                      2. then put the ariel feed into sly box, make up a short cable and connect sly rf out to tv and check if there is any diffrence

as i read it he put up aerials for freeview as in dvb/t,not sat dishs which are dvb/s not compatible,to view sky box is only through scart or hdmi only.

there are other sat boxes which have duel tuners dvb/s and dvb/t
needing a sat dish and aerial to get the best of both worlds, both independant of each other.

this setup is working fine in my neighbours house..

i will try and explain more

OK new DVB/T aerials have been installed

when downlead from aerial goes straight to 6 way splitter (SLX powered splitter), picture on analogue and digital have full signal strenth according to meter on screen on all tv's

I have connected downlead to cable which runs down to sky box using f-connectors and jointers then connect this sky box on (RF In)

Then cable coming from (RF Out) go direct to the UHF input on 6 way splitter (SLX powered splitter), analogue pictures have loss on quality and DVB Channels are gone altogether.....

I then disconnected (RF In) & (RF Out) from sky box and joined them, so as to test the cables, still the same problems.... I just cant work out how this can happen as in reality all im really doing is extending the cable's which i have done many times without any problems...

Now work that one out........ ha

would think you are joining up 3 systems keep all separate.
tv aerials are dvb/t all good.now the analogue is that from virgin/ntl etc as they are on dvb/c,most of uk is now digital is is not.
only use the aerials connected to splitter/booster to tvs not to anything else.
skybox leave out of it altogether unless you want to add another system l

just reread back.neighbour has identical system system, check settings are same in the skybox on both boxes, maybe yours not switched on
