    Steam kills itself on wine?

I have linux mint 11 and i have wine, winetricks and play on linux. This used to work with ubuntu but now i got linux mint11 and it logs in but then right when it loads up it kills itself without error message.

Call me snarky, but I've never seen the point of using Wine in a home system. After a decade of using Linux I found it is ultimately less trouble to just boot into Windows and run Steam, WoW or whatever there.

Have you checked dmesg for any output?

Or you could just use vmware to run virtual OS's. I quite often run WinXP as a virtual on my linux host and, apart from the odd program that tries to directly utilise hardware, i've never had a problem
