ubuntu wireless issues

I was recently introduced to Ubuntu and was impressed to say the least ( i thought you needed to be a programmer to use a Linux system) anyhoo I'm toying with the idea of setting up a dual boot on my PC with xp and Ubuntu 10.4, I've been googling Ubuntu errors and asking on forums and it seems I could run into trouble connecting to my wireless router (netgear). any post I've found on the net is before 08, does that mean there's no wireless issue with it anymore? I'd like to have as much info as possible before I go ahead with the dual boot.

Download Ubuntu 10.4 live cd and burn iso to cd. Put cd in your drive and run live cd [try before instalation] it should load all drivers including your wirless card driver all you hopfully have to do is put your password to connect to router. If everything runs as it should you good to install with out any worries about wirless not working. When you run it of live cd your pc will work a little slower as it needs to read from cd instead of hard drive. Most of the time ubuntu will recognise and load most drivers.

Unfortunately there are still issues with Linux Wireless. The problem is not as far as i know with the Router but it is with the wireless card. Here and here are links to two wireless card compatibility pages. One is for Ubuntu and the other is for Debian which is what Ubuntu is based on.
However the easiest solution, as gregk has suggested, is to get your Ubuntu burnt onto either a live CD or a live USB stick and boot it up. When given the option choose not to install it, and when you get to a desktop see if it recognizes you card, and see if you can configure it.
