Enjoy it mate, its worth having a play with.. However the latest version of ubuntu gets released today and would probably be even better for you. v9.04
you've started with the best for a beginner mate, if you fancy a more "bill Gatesy" feel.
install Kubuntu its just debian (which is what ubuntu is btw the way, free lesson of the day :P )
but it uses the KDE4 UI instead of GNOME which ubuntu uses which is more like OSX (iMac) in my opinion

You can choose in login window what session you want gnome or kde. in my opinion ubuntu is better than kubuntu. Here is my gnome desktop in ubuntu 8.04
