ODB II cable through Ubuntu

    ODB II cable through Ubuntu

    HI all,

    I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my Laptop, have managed to install VCDS Lite through WINE, however i can't seem to get my ODB2 cable to register any tips?

    I don't think it it will work.I've tried it too with Scanmaster and it was total failure.Though Scanmaster runs through Wine, it cannot recognise any Com ports.I' mnot sure, but i think Linux uses different name for Com ports.

      yeah, thanks mate.

      I've given up trying. I can run VCDS through wine, just like you can't get any further. So I've now decided to install a virtual windows machine through Virtual BOX utility

        Try with virtual box. maybe that will works.

            You need to setup a symbolic link to allow wine to access your serial cable. There are instructions on the ubuntu forums.
