If you go into your router configuration you can give dedicated addresses to your items making them static IPs over your LAN

you wouldn't happen to have a dummies guide on it, would ya... .

its strange how it stayed the same for so long then started changing

      edit....

      i think ive got it,
went into lan settings and set up address reservations....

      seems to be ok now....

      thanks for your help....

Also make sure your wifi is not getting hacked.

Most DHCP servers (which your router most likely is) will remember a MAC address and keep giving it the same IP address until the address range has run out at which point it starts recycling addresses which have not been renewed.

          now you've got me worried....

if it is being hacked, will it show up in connected devices?

Yes it should do if they still have a connection.

Another alternative is that somebody manually configured their IP to your old address and DHCP checked if it was free before using it.

              you must disable dhcp .
go in start . run . type cmd .
type ipconfig/all . save all the info there . ip , gateway , subnet dns .
              than go
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections open local area connection with right mouse click . select tcp ip v4 . and click properties . than chose . enter this IP manualy and dns manualy . and enter your ip like you want .
              ------------------
do this for every device . than disable dhcp on your router .

Why ?? putting in dhcp reservations will ensure that all devices keep getting the same addresses they currently do.
