For the past while my pc and ps3 have not been streaming media files correctly even on youtube the files start buffering , get so far then just stall . i have virgin media broadband with a micradigital wireless router Any suggestions greatly appreciated it is very frustrating !!

Unclear if you are using wired or wireless connection. If using wireless there may be interference from surrounding networks, try changing channels. Are you using filesharing, this can greatly impact streaming, disable anything you are not using.
Is your network secure, someone may have breached your connection, log into you router's configuration page, look for anything suspicious.
Make sure all connections are secure, check leads, antennae or obstructions.
Using a wired connection will provide a much better service, NAT, firewalls or connection issues are all that really affect a wired connection."What we've got here is failure to communicate."
