ddwrt fimware differnt on identical routers

i'm having big problems with port forwarding at the moment
i've had a dir615 for a couple of years working superb with port forwarding also spot on the only issue i have is with my wifi signal
so decided to purchase a identical router the trouble is even though the firmware is identical and revision are the same theres an extra setting in portforwarding on the one box says source net i've left this blank and still have problems forwarding
does anyone no how i can get the firmware to be the same ?

Are you sure its the same router ?

There are at least 4 different models of the dir615 all with differing levels of hardware. The early models are entirely different with different core processors and network switch modules to the later variants. The two types require different firmwares

To consider the routers to be the same you'll need to make sure the full device number (ie DIR615d) and EAN numbers are identical.

If the devices are identical then you could try copying the firmware from your working device onto the non-working one.
