    Tenda W311R+ router as bridge

I've got a tenda W311R+ to connect my Sky+ HD box and blu-ray to the internet.

I use Lynksis routerwhich give wireless internet connection throughout the house.

i'm having significant problems getting the tenda to communicate main router.

I've set the tenda to bridging mode, from an open scan I got the AP MAC address for the router, so the tenda can see and detect it. I've put in the correct WEP key, disabled DHCP.

But I can't access the internet through it.

do I have to give the Tenda the same or different SSID to the main router?

Do I have to make any changes to the main router settings?

Shouldn't the Tenda just have to provide the correct key etc to log in to the main router same as all other wireless stuff in the house?

Searched the web for some step by step guides but none of the suggestions are working.

    Any help much appreciated.

    hiya.

i have three tendas in my network.

    1) router
    2) repeater
    3) bridge

I have 1) in lazy mode. I have 2) in repeater mode and 3) in bridge mode. Let's focus on my settings for #3 seeing as that's what you are asking about.

    SSIDs are the same
All routers are on the same channel (important)
All routers are on the same mode (b/g/n in my instance)
All routers are using the same encryption (WEP in my case cause i can't be bothered with WPA2)
#3's WDS settings are Bridge Mode + WEP Key
    #3 - DHCP is off
#3 has a different IP to #2 and #1 (obviously)
    DNS is unticked
    Firmware is 3.3.6

My bridge started playing up recently - and you'll never believe this. If i moved it about a metre closer to the Router (even though its through two walls) it worked.

So, my suggestion is to move your bridge next to the router to test out the connection. it baffled me but it turns out that these cheapo routers are maybe just cheapo routers after all and not the bargain that i had originally hoped!

    Hope that helps.

      Thanks for the reply ZooLio

Hav tried the settings and check the firware as you said and still not working.

I have DD-wrt router and have mirrored all setting as per you advice onto the Tenda in bridge mode.

Was configuring both beside each other so I dont think its that they're too far apart :-)

      Any other ideas?

OP, you're not trying to use the WAN port on the Tenda are you? If so don't.
