    nas drive

    i was looking on getting a nas drive but being new to it was wondering what a good one to start with would be ??
    now i was looking on trying the synology ds212j cause the price looked good but i just seen the do a new synology ds212.
    could anybody tell me the difference in them besides the higher price ??

    Just try build your own nas from scratch, from my experience its much better than buying branded ????, if you need help just ask.

        It is only about design, how important you data is?, The capacity you need? and last the scheduled backup?

          The minimal configuration to have are, Two hard drive as RAID1 configuration (Mirror), one hard drive for scheduled backup.

            I just want a home storage drive to play all my music, films and a iTunes server over a few hardrives with 2 in raid for back up. I would also like to access over the net. How much could a decent be and what server would I use ? I have built a few computers so it could be possible if u could put me in the right direction
