2 routers from one broadband line?

    Hi,

I'm with Virgin Media and have 60mb b/band.

I need to hardwire a PS3 in my bedroom, and an Openbox in the lounge.

Rather than spend ?40 on a pair of homeplugs, could I just buy another router?

To clarify, in my bedroom I have one coax lead with a 2 way splitter going to the SuperHub Router and to the Virgin Media box. Downstairs I have one coax going to the Virgin Media box. I assume I could use a 2 way splitter on this coax and run the 2nd router off that?

    Cheers

Simple answer is NO , as you are using VM the router they supplyed to you is registered to your line. ( I've not heard of anyone being able to conect 2 routers to the same VM line )

Another option to Home Plugs is just to run Cat5 or Cat6 cables to the other rooms from your router.

just buy a 30 metre ethernet cable off flea bay for about a fiver and run it in, or use a vonets or tenda wifi adapter instead

not possible to use 2 routers on one broadband, not legally anyway, as they all have their own mac codes

cable routers are only own by virgin media

        you could do this following:

move the router to lounge so u can make it wireless from there and hard wire the openbox there, the ps3 in bedroom will still pick up the feed (wireless)

also if moving u can take the splitter off and just go from the isolator (white box) cable into bedroom virgin box

move splitter to lounge so u can still have vm box and router

im a ex installer of cable for 5 years
