Not sure if you are using windows or xp but it's preety much the same.

Go into your Control Panel > Network And Sharing

    Choose Homegroup And Sharing Options

Change Advanced Sharing Options there accordingly.

Right Click on the folder you want to copy and make it shareable.

You should be able to see that folder in your network on the other pc or laptop.

        Hi

Make sure network discovery is set to ON where you are sharing folders.

        or

Go to the Windows Firewall applet in Control
Panel and enable File & Printer Sharing on the Exceptions tab.

Let me know how it went

Have a look here and see if this is of any help m8 Troubleshoot problems finding computers on a home network

            THE TRUTH
            The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

XP is maybe more stubborn when it comes to this.

              Enable your Netbios.

              Open the Network Connections folder.
Right click the local area network connection and click Properties.
              Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
              Click Advanced.
              Click WINS.
Click the Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP button.
