i have just bought a ds212j and its really good..my question is how do u set it up so i can access it from a computer not on my network, say at work ?
i want full control to download or upload if poss ?

Hi griff, not an answer to your question but how much did you buy if for? I am looking for one now on fleebay but they seem to fetch good money on there. The ds212j was recommended by a tech guy who works in it in corporate company's doing their networking. Nas drives least likely to fail and most reliable and easy to use.

I got it on eBay. I offered someone ?120 and payed outside off eBay. It is a really good nas so far and really easy to set up. And in answer to my own question the is a program on it called EZ Internet and it did it all for me and set me up a DNS aswell. Well happy with it so far. Only one thing lets it down and that's the iTunes server.....but not down to synology. Would defo recommend it
