    Lost my wireless connection

    Wondered if anyone can help.
Have a netgear wireless router attached to PC, running Windows 98. Worked perfect for ages. Have 2 lap tops. One stopped connecting a couple of months bakc and now my other one has. It can see router and says signal is excellent but just stays on 'acquiring network address'.
Can anyone give me some ideas (basic instructions would be great!!)
    Huge Thankfulnesses

Fist thing you can trey is switch everything off , PC, Modem, Router.

    reboot modem
    reboot router
    reboot PC

Tray that first, if that fails you might have some 3rd party Security/Firewall stopping it.

Go to tools and set security to low, see if that helps you connect.

This can often be an issue with security encryption. There may be a wrong key entered or the client adaptor does not support the encryption used.
To try and solve this first change the SSID on your AP so your laptop will be forced to create a new profile. Then set security to basic WEP 64bit and try to connect again. Update the wireless adaptors drivers.
If you have any third party Firewalls, try and temporarily disable them to make sure they aren't blocking it.

If you have a password set up for connecting and it is 7 letters+ then try changing it to a shorter one.
