belkin router won't connect to internet

Hi,I have a belkin router that i recently setup through my pc. However the router doesn't connect to the internet.
My PC connects to the internet when wired directly and another laptop can connect to the router it's just connecting through the router to the internet thats the problem.

can anybody help please?

Have you got the modem connection to the router plugged into the correct port.?

Yes but i'm wondering if i have the right router as it is adsl - should this work for broadband?

If you are in a cable area and you have VM as your provider then an ADSL router won't work for your but if you are with BT then your are fine.

you need a combined modem/router for ADSL
