Speed Test

Guys and Gals,

If my setup was as follows,

Desktop,2 linux boxes hardwired to router and 1 wireless laptop as well, and if I do a speed test on my Desktop, would I get full speed i.e 20 meg or becuse I have so many connections to router it would be a lot lower ?

I have 20 meg but speed test gives 8-10 meg ( Vermin)

Full speed unless your router/firewall does bandwidth shaping, or the other computers are busy on the internet using up bandwidth. Of course your computer might only have a 10mbt network card which would explain your results.

No I've had 20 meg recently but recently anything between 8 and12 meg.

So no matter how many devices connected via port switches or to router I should get full speed?

i checked my vm 50mb speed and within 20 mins i got results ranging from 2 mb up to 37 mb ??? whats that about ?
