    Dell Optiplex gx270

    Hello everyone, I have a dell optiplex gx270 and cant boot up I get the error. Alert: previous shutdown due to thermal event. I have opened pc and cleaned out the fan and cleaned any excess dust from it however im still getting the same error and it wont boot up. any suggestions would be greatey appreciated. Thanks.

    -any beep noise on power up?
    -otherwise you may need to apply thermal paste to the main chip, based on error msg..

      Thanks for reply. there is no beep on start up. I can get to boot menu by pressing f12. can boot from cd. I have hirems boot cd , so if all else fails I might just recover the data from it as it is an old pc.
