ie redirects to other web sites

    hi
I am having a problem with my laptop (fujitsu siemens amilo)
when i first start up the laptop i get the error msg "task scheduler has stopped working or com surrgate has stopped working, also if i try windows update i get a msg in a red box saying "windows could not search for new updates".
next and the main problem is the internet.
if i try internet explorer it will redirect to another site like youtube ,gomeo.com or some other site i have never heard of, or the web page will show up with a msg box saying that internet explorer cannot open the web site and when i click ok it gos to the white screen.
i have also tryed firefox and google crome but its no better,
so i lastly reset my laptop back to factory setting hoping that this would solve the problem,
having restarted the laptop and got it all back set up i connected to the internet and still have all the same problems
so any ideas would be most wecome
    thanks

sounds like similiar problem i had few weeks back and it took me best part of 2 days to get to bottom of it ,i formatted and re installed windows and basically was about to give up as i couldnt get rid of it then i realised it was happening on all pcs and laptops connected to my network

the fault i had was a virus had been redirected from my anti virus software to my router where it installed itself and changed settings there , factory reset my router and set up new password on it and it was gone ,

if your using a router may be a good place to check just incase youve got same issues i had

    good luck mate

Download malwarebytes on good pc, transfer to usb drive, boot problem pc to safe mode, run malwarebytes, update and run full scan!

If you still have issues, download hijackthis, scan and save logfile and go to this site for annalysis.
        HijackThis Logfileauswertung

if your pc is ok doesnt mean that the wireless output of the router hasnt been hijacked , if youve formatted your hardrive and its still there its unlikely to be a virus on your laptop, it might be worth checking your router bud just in case will take very little time , i scratched my head for days with similiar issue

i tried every anti malware/virus program known and they all came back clean

Try a direct connection and check network connection settings, Do you have system restore enabled? Is there a backup partition?

well no luck so far I have started up in safe mode ran the programs suggested (spybot/ malware) and and the same outcome. I downloaded hijack this ,followed the instructions on the web site and pasted the results, and everything seems fine. so i'm back to having the internet going were ever it likes or not at all.
any more ideas, also i was wondering why a full reset back to factory setting failed to sort this as it would not have had these problems when new. however thanks for the help so far.

Go to start > run > msconfig > startup tab. Google every thing that appears, but start with the "unknown" manufacturer items first.

This question reads as patronising, so I apologise going in...

Did you boot into the "safe mode with networking" option so that Malware Bytes and Spybot S&D can grab the latest updates? The downloads very rarely have the latest definitions and libraries due to new threats arising daily.

When you say reset to factory settings did you do a format and reinstall, system restore or boot from a recovery partition?

The last 2 methods can often be infected by the same malware as they are not read only.

hi, well first thing ,i did use safe mode with networking and updated the software first ,mind that was on my second attempt. the first time in just safe mode the download stopped. about the reset i woukd think it was from a recovery partition as i have no discs. i will check what you suggested with the msnconfig and get back .
                  thanks
well i checked the msconfig and it looked pretty much ok there war one unknown "hd audio cpl via" not sure what that is or if it came with the pc software.
unchecked a couple of things that were not needed and tryed the internet again,it went mcn uk homepage i tryed ebay but got somr auctions web site hthat i have never heard of had a go for the lottery web site and it would not go there just kept saying it was connecting. so i had to turn it off. and thats were i am now
