what do you mean you cannot gain access to it? can you not create a cd from the link a gave you and then boot your laptop up on it? A start up disk is not gonna help you if your disk is phyically damaged..

after you have verified the physical integrity of the disk then we can download a Hiren CD and try fixing the mbr or something.. But your statement has me confused,,
