Hi i recently started having problems with my dell inspiron 1545 screen LED. At first it started to freeze and fade to bright white, eventually after a few days it became stuck white even after booting the laptop. I bought a replacement LCD cable, however after replacing the cable the screen fails to even power up. this is the same now for the old cable (Both are the same model). i have also replaced the screen (LCD LED)) with a new one. My laptop still however fails to even power the screen but outputs perfectly fine on an external screen through the VGA port. Any suggestions?

I think you should just buy a new computer. You're investing way too much for an already broken one. -
If there are two cables for the screen try replacing the other.
Inverter (small, usually green, board located just under the screen) may be faulty.
Power output from motherboard, use voltmeter to test.
If you can borrow a similar screen, inverter and cables from a friend, plug that in to rule out these hardware issues. Failing that, any decent PC repair shop should be able to diagnose and repair the problem quite easily.Last edited by SouthernComfort; 13 May, 2011, 12:03."What we've got here is failure to communicate."Comment
